China Business License Checker (USCC Validator)
Paste the 18-character Unified Social Credit Code from your supplier's business license. The checker validates the check digit (GB 32100-2015) and decodes who registered the entity, what type of entity it is and which region it is registered in.
How to verify a Chinese business license on GSXT (step by step)
- Get the right document. Ask the supplier for a photo of the full business license (营业执照), not a cropped logo or an Alibaba badge. Note the 18-character code and the Chinese company name.
- Run the code through the checker above. An invalid check digit means a typo or a fake.
- Open gsxt.gov.cn (国家企业信用信息公示系统), paste the code into the search box and solve the captcha. The site is in Chinese — browser auto-translate works.
- Match the name character for character. The Chinese name (企业名称) must match the license, the contract and the bank beneficiary exactly.
- Check the status (登记状态). 存续 / 在营(开业)= active. 注销 = deregistered, 吊销 = revoked: stop immediately.
- Read the business scope (经营范围). A manufacturer's scope includes 制造 / 生产 (manufacturing / production) of your product. Only 销售 / 批发 / 进出口 (sales / wholesale / import-export) suggests a trading company — see our factory or trading company checker.
- Look for warnings. 经营异常名录 (abnormal operations list), 行政处罚 (administrative penalties) and 严重违法失信 (serious violations) are red flags.
- Compare the registered capital and founding date with the size and history the supplier claims.
Before wiring money, also run the supplier deposit risk calculator and read how to check if a Chinese supplier is legit.
Want us to verify the company behind the license?
Our Manual Evidence Review ($99) matches the license against GSXT records, your quotation/PI and the payment beneficiary, and tells you what is still missing before you pay.
Frequently asked questions
What is a Unified Social Credit Code (USCC)?
Since 2015 every legal entity in mainland China has an 18-character Unified Social Credit Code printed on its business license (营业执照). It replaced the old registration number, organization code and tax number. The structure is defined by national standard GB 32100-2015.
Does a valid check digit prove the supplier is real?
No. The checker proves the number is well-formed and not mistyped or invented. Scammers often use a real, valid code that belongs to a different company. You must look the code up on the official GSXT system and confirm the Chinese company name, status and business scope match the supplier you are paying.
Where do I verify a Chinese business license officially?
Use the National Enterprise Credit Information Publicity System (国家企业信用信息公示系统) at gsxt.gov.cn. Paste the 18-character code, solve the captcha, and check the company name, registration status (在营/存续 = active), legal representative, registered address and business scope.
What does a code starting with 92 mean?
Codes beginning with 92 are issued to individual businesses (个体工商户, sole traders). Machinery manufacturers and exporters are normally limited companies with codes beginning with 91.
The bank account name is different from the license. Is that a problem?
Yes — it is the most common sign of deposit fraud. The beneficiary on the proforma invoice should be the same legal entity as on the business license. If it is a different company, a Hong Kong company or a personal account, stop and get the relationship explained and verified before paying.
